Jim May, MBA
Chief Executive Officer

Jim May is CINA’s co-founder and the visionary and chief software architect behind the company’s innovative product offerings.  Since its founding in 2004, Mr. May has led CINA’s growth and expansion as a market leader in the areas of clinical data integration, data extraction and standardization, and data analysis. Prior to CINA, Mr. May served as co-founder and CEO of Integrated Outcomes, Inc., a software development and consulting firm. He was also founder and CEO of May-Craft Information Systems, Inc., a systems integration firm ranked in the top 20 of the Inc. 500 list of the nation’s fastest-growing firms. Mr. May has also served as CFO of Brookhaven Medical Center, a 365-bed Dallas-based hospital; CFO of Interphase Corporation, a publicly traded international manufacturer of high-speed fiber optic devices; and as a consultant to senior management of rapidly growing companies. Mr. May has been a regular contributor to a variety of industry publications and is an active participant in industry organizations. He currently serves on several national healthcare standards-setting organizations and is a member of the Executive Committee of ASTM International. Mr. May, who is a frequent speaker at national healthcare conferences, holds an MBA from the University of Dallas.

 

Cathy Bryan, MHA, BSN, RN
Chief Clinical Officer

As co-founder and Chief Clinical Officer for CINA, Cathy Bryan develops and oversees the clinical aspects of the company’s product offerings and is the primary liaison with its clients. As Chief Clinical Officer, Ms. Bryan leads CINA’s clients in effective data extraction, internal and external reporting, participation in comparative effectiveness research, and strategies for successful PQRI reporting. Prior to CINA, Ms. Bryan co-founded Integrated Outcomes, Inc. with Mr. May, serving as Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations for that company, and served as Vice President of Clinical Services for Corinthian Health Services, a developer of provider-based ambulatory infusion centers. Ms. Bryan was a consultant to various healthcare organizations and physician practices for several years as well. She brings extensive industry knowledge to her role with CINA, including authoring a comprehensive policy manual for physician-based ambulatory infusion centers, assisting provider organizations with industry accreditations, and utilizing information technology to support quality improvement, disease management and decision support in a variety of healthcare settings. Ms. Bryan has been published in the Journal of Healthcare Management and Informatics in Primary Care and speaks frequently at national conferences. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University and her Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

 

Beth Hurter, BS
Chief Informatics Officer

Beth Hurter is the Chief Informatics Officer for CINA. She has over 15 years of software engineering and management experience in the Healthcare IT industry. Ms. Hurter was the lead architect for an industry-leading Personal Health Record and spent several years as director of development for an electronic medical record. Ms. Hurter is active in many industry groups focused on the electronic exchange of medical information, including the HL7 EHR-PHR Linkage Work Group, the ASTM E31 standards group for the Continuity of Care Record, and the CCR Acceleration Task Force. She also participates in the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) demonstrations and workshops. Her work on these committees is dedicated to ensuring that emerging data standards support the interchange of data between healthcare providers and the patient.

 

Prior to entering the Healthcare IT industry, Ms. Hurter worked as a software engineer for government defense programs, including systems engineer for the onboard software systems to manage and control payload operations for the NASA International Space Station. Ms. Hurter graduated with honors from Murray State University, where she was active in several honors societies. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics with emphasis in Computer Science.

 

George Crowling, MBA

Strategic Advisor

George Crowling is a Strategic Advisor for CINA and brings years of experience as a healthcare consultant and manager to our team. Recently, George was a Senior Consultant and practice leader for the Health Care Independent Data Analysis (IDA) product at Options and Choices, Inc. (OCI). This work focused on client knowledge assistance for health care design, utilization, and financial decisions. For over 14 years, Mr. Crowling was the Director of Healthcare Management for Verizon Communications. In this position, Mr. Crowling was responsible for healthcare benefit designs and vendor selection, negotiation and management totaling $3+ billion of health care purchases annually. In 2006, he retired from Verizon to focus more on consulting roles. George brings extensive industry knowledge and a network of resources to his role with CINA.

 

Mr. Crowling has received numerous awards and served on a variety of boards and councils in the health care industry. Among his awards are the National Health Information Award – for CAT (Care Advocate Team) communications in 2006, the Communications Award of Excellence – International, for CAT – Print Media, Inc. 2006, and the MarCom Creative Awards – 2006 Platinum Winner, for the “Verizon CAT Marketing Program”. Mr. Crowling’s communication and creative abilities make him a valuable resource to CINA and our clients. Mr. Crowling was appointed to the Texas Healthcare Information Council by Gov. George W. Bush and served from 1998 – 2001. He was also a Health Board member for the DFW Business Group On Health from1994 – 1998.
